Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is offered now on the Nintendo Change.
Since Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will almost surely have DLC, it's possible that we could see more convergent Pokémon appears in 2023 when that DLC is released. But right now, the new generation of Pokémon feels a bit disjointed and unfocused, which coincidentally explains the new games themselves.
Since Pokémon Sun and Moon, The Pokémon Company has played around with its guidelines on Pokémon style and advancements. More just recently, Pokémon Legends: Areas returned to non-regional forms getting brand-new advancements, something we hadn't seen because Pokémon Diamond and Pearl-- Warder, Ursula, and Flavor all progressed from regular forms of previous Pokémon.
It could be argued that the convergent advancements aren't the true brand-new gimmick of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet-it's actually the Paradox Pokémon that appear at the end of the game. However since they are so minimal (save for the player's Legendary Ride Pokémon, which exists from the opening moments of the game), it's difficult to state that this Paradox Pokémon truly specify the new generation of Pokémon.
Considering That Pokémon Sun and Moon, The Pokémon Business has played around with its guidelines on Pokémon design and developments. More recently, Pokémon Legends: Areas returned to non-regional types getting brand-new advancements, something we hadn't seen because Pokémon Diamond and Pearl-- Warder, Ursula, and Flavor all developed from regular types of previous Pokémon.
Regional Pokémon have appeared in every video game since Pokémon Sun and Moon, while brand-new local advancements have appeared in Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Legends: Areas.
While convergent evolution was hyped up in the marketing lead-up to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with Wiglet appearing via a phony ecological conference held by The Pokémon Business, it actually is rather sparingly used in the game. There are a couple of new regional Pokémon, there's a single regional evolution, and there are a handful of old Pokémon that get an evolution.
Regional Pokémon have appeared in every game since Pokémon Sun and Moon, while brand-new regional evolutions have appeared in Pokémon Sword and Guard and Pokémon Legends: Areas. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we see new Regional types, brand-new evolutionary branches limited to local types, and old Pokémon receiving new evolutions.
